APPLICATION PROCESS

DEADLINE TO APPLY: March 1, 2022

This year, Labo 2022 takes place on a virtual level. Keeping the spirit of our in-person lab, you can expect to take part mainly in a group projects, as well as attend other events such as workshops and presentations from fellow participants. Our 11th edition wishes to focus on relevant subjects affecting artists today, with themes touching upon expression, creation & remote collaboration. In this way, LMCML aims to enlarge our reach through open-source access that will bring meaningful tools for all musicians and artists in this digital age. Together, we wish to foster a virtual community to exchange valuable insights and perspectives from our participants.

We accept applications from all artists who work with sound, for example: composers, acoustic instrumentalists, improvisers, mixed and multimedia artists, electronic artists, etc. Both Canadian and international applicants are welcome.

The roles of each participant are to be flexible; one group might end up with only people who applied as performers, whereas some other groups might include several composers. We ask you to be open-minded, to welcome experimentation and embrace organic collaboration.

This edition of the lab unfortunately does not allow for pieces of indefinite length, such as installations. The length of all works created for the Lab must not be longer than 7 minutes.

The selection committee includes members of MCML’s organising team and invited guest artists.
